Auto accidents
If you were recently in an auto accident, whether a passenger, the driver, or as a pedestrian, you need to be seen by a Doctor of Chiropractic as soon as possible after your accident. Under NJ motor vehicle laws, you have only ten days to commence treatmnet before we will have to ask permission of your carrier for therapy, known as pre-authorization.
If that ten days has passed, you can be examined, but we will have to get pre-authorization for any therapy. This office is well equipped to evaluate to see if you have a whiplash injury, and document it to your carrier.
Biomechanical studies have shown that all that is necessary to develop a whiplash injury is a 5 mph rear ender collision. That's not very much speed! And, the implications can be severe for 4-10 years down the road, if you don;t recceive proper care right away. When ligaments are stretched, some fibers tear, and scar tissue will form. Scar fibers are shorter than the original tissue fibers and that will casue the ligament to squeeze the joint and damage its contents; the cartilage, and fluids contined within. This will lead to degenerative joint disease far earlier than normal aging would.
Call 201-569-1444 right away and get an examination to see if you have a whiplash injury from even the smallest fender bender accident.
Q: Will my insurance rates increase if I get treated?
A: Your rates are not tied to medical treatment at all. If the accident is reated an at fault accident, then your carrier can raise your rates. IF it's not an at fault accident, then your rates are unaffected regardless of the amount of medical treatment you need.
Q: Whose insurance pays my bills?
A: Under NJ law, your own insurance pays your bills and collects from the at fault party's carrier. If you are uninsured, then the carrier for any relative residing in your home, who owns a car and is insured, must cover your medical treatment costs, and collect it from the at-fault carrier.
